I'll be waking up in the dark and going to bed while the sun is up.

I hate daylight savings.

So what . If the rotation of the globe results in an earlier wake up, get used to it. The natural world does

Well, you borrow some in the morning, and save it for the evening, but you get terrible interest rates for it in some states.

As mentioned you save it from the morning and get more light in the evenings. Up North the lengths of the day's don't vary much all year round, so no benefit up there but down here the daylight is very short in Winter and very long in Summer. Daylight savings just moves the times when the sun sets to make the most out of the day. Having the extra hour of daylight in the evening is great for getting things done after work, evening BBQ's etc.

I don't get why so many get so uptight about this to be honest, it really makes no difference to the day, just gets darker later. It wouldn't bother me if it wasn't done but as it is, I make the most of it.

Like a lot of things in life - if you can't change it, why get so mad about it? Those that get upset about it need to learn about the 'circle of concern'...
