that said though it has been made blatently obvious that we must stop at the Cadbury's factory or else, so if we're gunna do that then look out Boags and Cascade

    Glenn,

Sorry to dampen the chocaholic in you but the Cadbury factory is closed at Christmas for maintenance and they don't run tours during that time.

Bloody hell, dont let that get out or we wont be going either 8O

Maybe the Cadbury signs could be redirected to Boags or Cascades and the rest will be as they say "History"

If you want to make sure you get on the boat when you want to I'd be booking now. When we went in Jan 05 we had to leave at 7am ish on New Years Day. Every other spot was booked out between Christmas Day and New Years Day.
Although we booked in early November.
Also if you plan to stay on caravan parks we found it was best to book ahead. After missing out a few times we found it best to plan where you intended to make it to that night and then ring ahead to book a spot. Even then the parks only ever had minimal places left.

We went to Tas on a day sail and came back on a night sail. Day is cheaper and you get the experience of being in the middle of the ocean hundreds of kms from anywhere (although I was bored stupid 90% of the trip). However if you go on a night sail you effectively gain a day as you do not spend a day on the boat.

No passport needed for Tas either. Contrary to many maps of Australia you see Tas is part of Australia.

Any dates being thrown around as yet guys,

I have been given permission for the youngest member of the family to go 4wd'ing around this time and i can't think of a better way to get away from the outlaws at Xmas then place Bass Strait between me and them

Besides 9mths of planning should have me ready in time .....

    G'Day Glen,

If you want them I can send all my trip notes & maps from the club trip I led last Easter, which was a roaring success.

It was our second trip & better than the first knowing what to avoid & what we missed out on not to miss.

Our first trip was at Christmas & it rained a lot but was good weather, the second at Easter was colder off course I had to put trousers on at night in a few spots but really nice weather though.

If you don't go to Tassie, join us for a trip to the Vic High Country for two weeks 27th Dec to 9th Jan, like last Christmas a blast you'll enjoy either trip.

    Cheers mate

I have only just found this thread. It sounds great, but unfortunately baby will still be too small for a trip like this
