Yesterday, the thumbscrew that locks the camera angle disintegrated so the camera moves from side to side with cornering forces.

Naturally, replacement parts are not available.

Problem is.... the cheapies on evilBay are just that, you need pay more for the ones. 'meant'. for dash-cams. Also, shrt file sizes are a killer.
The more times a card is written to, the shrtr it's life, so small files are not space-efficient as there must be a small overlap of the previous one...

Also, brand name cards may be safer as well... You'll know by relative pricing !

Otherwise, treat cards as a consumable item. . - As can be many dash cams, about 12 to 18 months, and 30 months max, the "capacitor". models lasting longer. Seems to apply to all and any brand, including the most $$$

My next one will be cheap, larger screen, suction cap and NO need for a WiFI interface !

I've had almost 5 faultless years out of a Blackvue 750X 2ch. in the Subaru Impreza. As far as the SD card is concerned, I do a "quick" reformat (FAT32) every 6months or so as recommended. I bought it from "Dashcams Australia". About a year ago I bought a Blackvue770X 2ch from them for the Grenadier. I rarely worry about reviewing the footage ..but again, reformat the card each 6months.

I have a "Kapture KPT-850" which was bought for me as a present in ~2018. It's a cheap JB Hifi knock off of a Blackvue. 1080p and 64G card limit with external GPS. I did have to re-focus and lock the lens in the first week I had it, but since then has been pretty good.

I use Sandisk Ultra cards. It currently has a 250G card in it which gives me about 4 months of footage. For a < $200 unit it has done a credible job.

I do pop the card out a couple of times a year generally when my dickhead detector has gone off and I want to copy to the laptop, but never needed to re-format a card. I do replace the card every couple of years, but only because I keep seeing how far I can push the size. My next purchase will be a 512G.

I wanted a Blackvue, and my old man has one in his 200 series, but to be honest for ~4x the cost at time of purchase my cheapie has been just as good.

What's going on here? Has AULRO been hacked again?

I'm certain that I clicked on "Members Dash Cam Videos", but it would appear that I have accessed the "Computers and IT" section.

    Faulty camera or card ?

Bought a basic $80 eBay dash-cam and a couple of new, more $$$. memory cards.... Today, thought I'd run it and compare with the UNIDEN currently in service. (with a dirt-cheap eBay card...). Ha ! Camera would access all it's settings... except to format the brand-new card... or apparently, even recognise it has a card installed... Yes, it IS. in the right way round, and these two AND a 'used - but - formatted' card were equally spurned.
    - So I've sent back a message to the vendor, asking "Why?" We wait with bated breath...
Funny thing is, the previous cheap and cheerful eBay cameras - Vioffo the classic, have all worked faultlessly and with very cheap eBay-sourced memory cards.
(Yes, the Vioffo was the best, - #1 son left it in the car he sold... the one he. "bought". from me....)IMG_4616.jpgIMG_4618.jpgIMG_4621.jpg

Not naming the camera, - Yet. Giving the seller a fair go at replying...
