Big Brother (and his cousin Google) is listening,,

I quite like to listen to The Loon internet radio station streaming all the way from St Cloud, Minnesota USA,,
103.7 THE LOON - Listen Live

their adds at this time of year are all about snow plows and other cold weather gear,,
when all of a sudden someone on the add says "Mate",,
which made me tune in a bit more,,

and its a bloody anti drug add from our own Aust Govt!

I guess its just a sound popup add,,
    but its not really,,

Yep. It's not a bad radio station.

I heard an Australian Defence Jobs ad. I'm trying to see if there's a pattern.

After having my tree shaken, I'm now hearing a little ditty about Jack and Dianne.
Most of these are songs I enjoy. The soundtrack of my free life, when I didn't have a worry.

I am really enjoying this station.

Just heard another Aussie Ice ad.
    There's no pattern to it.
    And another Concur ad.
And the weather is interesting. High teens with snow expected later. That would be Fahrenheit, of course.

And now, The Sultans of Swing.

Most of the streaming radio providers just sell advertising space on the stream and insert ads based on the listeners ip address, usually fairly clumsily. The bit I dislike is that they generally do it over the top of the local news and ads which are often part of the allure of listening to them in the first place. I'd imagine said advertising is fairly cheap (or free) as there is usually a lot of federal (US) govt announcements about education funding, community services etc. I might try liostening with a VPN and see what the difference is..........
