He says when you got a new one home from the dealership you gave it your own pre-delivery service, adjusted everything that could be and tightened everything else. The car now wears a Volvo 1800 E engine with the injection replaced by SU's. I donated this. It was out of my daughters first car. The other guy got an attack of the marries and traded it on a Falcon wagon. Both owners reckoned they were great little go anywhere jiggers.

BM, do you remember French cars with the iridescent white plastic handles and knobs? Looked pretty but in extreme cases in Western Qld. sun lasted a matter of weeks before turning into white powder.v
I've known a few people who have nothing but praise for the Niva. Never really had much to do with them myself though. A Niva with an 1800E Volvo engine would definitely be interesting - I was trying to buy a "shed find" Volvo P1800ES (the sport wagon body) a few years ago, but was outbid.

French cars with iridescent "pearlite" plastic handles and knobs - yes - my father bought a Simca Aronde when I was a young tacker - remember them well.

1965 Ford Mustang GT. I have always wanted one, probably from seeing them in the movies and TV shows.

It was admittedly a beautiful car that made a wonderful noise but it was unreliable, uncomfortable, handled like a pig on rollerskates and was downright terrifying in the rain.

What is it they say about never meeting your heroes? The Americans can build fun (bit not necessarily good) engines but the cars they put them in are godawful.

    Ouch!

Saw that quite a few times and always felt for the poor bugger that did it.

Also saw a few cars skull dragged outside the gates onto either Oran Park Rd or Bringelly/The Northern Rd to try and claim insurance!

Saw that done at Lowood in the 60's. Car rolled on Bardahl Bend. Got put through the fence onto the road and the Snr. Constable in Attendance, an obliging chap, produced an accident report that it skidded on loose gravel, tripped and fell. Don't know if the attempt was successful.

I'd add Mini interior door handles which fall off when the screw works loose.

The Lada Niva that a mate of mine owned a while ago had a Fiat/Lancia 1800cc twin cam fitted and went accordingly. A great toy.

For me it was a VB Commodore ( VB stands for Very Bad ) closely followed by a Citroen C4 Diesel . I had mostly GM cars up to the Commodore & have not bought another GM vehicle since . The C4 could have been a good vehicle if it wasn't for the dealer not wanting to do any warranty work.

The early 850's had a cord you pulled down to open the door, with sliding windows.

I forgot the FJ40 Land-cruiser , it had never been on the beach but just would not stop rusting & had a regular habit of burning out valves as well .
