Brawn are the better chinese winch.
They are also striped, modified and reassembled before sale here.
And dont believe that water-anything means u dont need to run them after immersion or that they dont need servicing every year.
Cheers

I'm sure that Warn, Brawn, etc are better but we are talking about 1/3 the price. Maybe you could make them at least a little more water resistant (?). Thanks for all the input![]()
The 1/3 price ebay winch lasted 1 pull and was toast.
This was on a mild test, nothing hard at all.
Add to this you need to buy another cable and hook and the $400 has blown out to the repco price anyhow, for what is definately a far, far better winch.
Cheers
Mike
I was always under the belief that "Warn" were made in China,Originally posted by dullbird
i don't know if this really applys to us
but when we were looking at the cheap ones in the uk a very good friend of ours told us to stay well clear of the winches made in china
as the motors burn out and can't hack excesive winching, especialy if you are using them for lowering..........
but like i say that was in the uk so i don't know if the same apply's
dullbird
shipped to USA in pieces and assembled there by Mexicans
Then exported to Australia
Please correct me if I am wrong...........![]()
maybe you are right
but i was also told that the chineese also do a cheap copy based on the warn winch..........
and these were the ones we were told to stay clear of...
but its the same in anything sometimes its just were there built
for example i have just brought a plasma tv....and the plasma we brought if it is made in japan it is ok but if it was made in china we might have software problems......
i would imagine the same goes for the winches to some degree.....

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
At the risk of being philosophical:
there are many Chinas
some good and some bad
Just check the labels on your clothing.
It depends on who does the engineering who checks the quality and who pays the labour and how much they are paid. ($3.00 per day for instance)
Walmart, Supercheap etc
If the winch was made in India? The next frontier.
BTW the Chinese make world class Hi Fi valve amplifiers
What do we make?

YEah, just because it comes from China, doesn't necessarily mean its rubbish.
And there's no such thing as a waterproof winch. If its maintained properly, it should work in some water, but remember that electrics and water don't mix. I believe that Brawn has backed off from it's waterproof claim.
It it's been in water, it should be serviced shortly thereafter or else it will end up failing right when you need it next.
