Im from the sit down, belt up, and shut up old school, my phone is inaudible when driving.
But what special training, if any, do emergency services get to use their phones while mobile, that makes it safe. :-?

Agree that higher penalties don't do much as repeat offenders don't expect to be caught. So, make it more likely for them to be caught. Radar makes everyone slow down. Highly visible patrol cars have the same effect.
Agree , iPod is better . I have about 10 000 songs loaded onto mine . It would be very distracting carrying the cd s and records and trying to play any of them while driving. Besides that I would likely lose my coffee or drinks holder in the mess .
The CD player in my 110 works with MP3 and you can fit a lot of CDs on one DVD in that format! The radio in my 2a has a USB input - and you can fit even more on a 16GB USB!
