MoveLater2 Robe trip after new years day.

Thinking of going across to robe from melb on the 2nd of jan for about 5 nights. Can anyone recommend some spots to camp, not interested in caravan parks or national park campsites, would prefer bush or beach camping. Is bush/beach camping permitted? Or only in designated areas? Want to do a bit of fishing and sand driving and not much else for the last week of my break.

    Thanks!

My son and his family set up their camper on the beach there. Sorry, but he's away right now and I can't ask him where, but he's not the sort to go places with too much red tape. However, someone else will know more I guess.

You mean there is also a Fortesque River in South OZ near the lovely town of Robe? Or like me did you immediately think of WA/Robe River?

Quite a few years since I last stayed there, but we camped in Little Dip Conservation park not far out of Robe. Little Dip Conservation Park - National Parks South Australia - Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources

Yeah thats what I wasn’t sure about. When i went to fraser you could only camp in designated spots along the beach bit i like the idea of doing my own thing.

Sounds great. We usually go to mallacoota in east vic, its about 6.5 hours away. Robe is about the same distance from me so It’s a no brainer. I’ll be getting a map today and start getting my head around the area.

If you like wine, the Limestone Coast region of SA, with it's famous terra rossa soil, is a stone's throw. Also, I know mullet is a dirty word among east coast fishermen, but the Coorong mullet is definitely worth trying. Just a bit north of Robe. Even the humble fish and chips taste better there.

Nowhere near as crowded as Mallacoota ( yet ). It can get a bit windy, though...
