Thinking of going across to robe from melb on the 2nd of jan for about 5 nights. Can anyone recommend some spots to camp, not interested in caravan parks or national park campsites, would prefer bush or beach camping. Is bush/beach camping permitted? Or only in designated areas? Want to do a bit of fishing and sand driving and not much else for the last week of my break.
Thanks!

Just find a bit of beach between Robe and Cape Jaffa and park it. Easy as.
Cheers Rod
Yeah thats what I wasn’t sure about. When i went to fraser you could only camp in designated spots along the beach bit i like the idea of doing my own thing.
Mate its great down there as long as the wind isnt blowing too hard. Beautiful at night. No light pollution. The stars are wonderful. Fishing's good, unless im doing it...lol and swimming is great. If ur near a reef bring snorkel etc. Great. Cray season too...
Cheers Rod
If you like wine, the Limestone Coast region of SA, with it's famous terra rossa soil, is a stone's throw. Also, I know mullet is a dirty word among east coast fishermen, but the Coorong mullet is definitely worth trying. Just a bit north of Robe. Even the humble fish and chips taste better there.
Nowhere near as crowded as Mallacoota ( yet ). It can get a bit windy, though...
