    MoveLater2 Evakool 12v Fridges

    Hey all,

I am looking for people with experience on the Evakool brand of 12v fridges, particularly the Glacier G61
    (SPECIAL! G61 61 Litre Evakool Glacier Metal Fridge/Freezer - Evakool Glacier Fridge/Freezers - Fridges)

I have done some research and it appears that this size would support our needs (along with the Engel MT60, at double the price) over the comparable Waeco due to its lower profile.

Aside from the price difference it also appears that the Evakool is Australian made.

I would be most interested in people’s experiences with this brand/fridge.

I have posted this on myswag too so I can get breadth of opinion.

    Thanks Joel

We have a smaller Evakool and it's been fine. Yes, Aussie made.

No the model you’re looking at but I have an evaKOOL RF60.....been good so far and like you the reason I went evakool is they have the lowest profile.

A mate and I purchased a seconds at the same time and buggered if we can find a reason why it was classed as a factory seconds.

Oh should have mentioned the only thing I had to get my head around was the bit that does the cooling on the inside is only at one end.......but have it sorted now.

My two Engels have been shelved in the garage.

    I have a 42litre Evakool, great fridge.

I thought I had a problem and took it to a recommended fridgey in Beenlieigh who specialises in car fridges.....the problem was in my weatherproof socket which wasn't......but he said they rarely have Evakools in his shop for problems , and his shop is full of "other" brands continuously being repaired.

AFAIK that model Evakool is a Chinese generic import.

Some on this forum have had good experiences with them over a considerable time.

My only experience with an Evakool was an Australian made one ie the coolbox with a compressor on the end . It stopped working for a fellow camper.
I traced back the power was getting to the fridge, but no workee. Pushed and pulled several of the blade connectors around the compressor and Voila it worked.
    Regards Philip A

Yes and you can find over over a dozen copies wearing various brand names for nearly half the price.

Certainly the Evakool RV range are not Aussie made or designed - Chinese.

I have the RV25 works OK but has pretty high power use - I bought it for weekend use and for that it is fine but for longer use would be a bit power hungry.

The larger non RV range are great fridges - like being asked about and you would not go wrong with one - BUT not all Evakool fridges are the same.
