When my uncle who was an ex WW2 RAAF member died, my cousin took the coffin home and painted it up like a "WW2 Spitfire" and it looked fantastic. As he only had a window of a few days to do it and it was in the winter months, he had a bit of difficulty getting the paint to dry. The Funeral Home people loved it and wanted him to take it on as a side line for them, as they said customers (or should that be customers families) would be into footy team colours, vehicle makes, etc. He declined as he decided it was to much stress trying to get the job done in such a short window of time.Originally Posted by V8Ian

AT RESTCuriosity got the better of me so I googled and watch a cremation on Youtube, cardboard boxes were used in them, so it might be case case of coffins are only rented for cremations.
I felt a bit sick after watching the crem workers going through the process, not a job I could do .

AT RESTSeems like a lot of trouble, why not remove the body and put it in the freezer then put it back into the silky oak casket, seems a lot to coffin swapping to and throw.
seems we don't really get told what goes behind the scenes.
What about the preparation of the body fees, not many people want to view their loved ones so why pay for services of embalming and makeup etc, this I believe is done as the norm.
When I go I do particularly want my blood drained and formaldehyde pumped into me.
