Qld farmers are being well and truly shafted by Golden Circle cannery , used to be a farmers co-op ( now owned by Heinz Foods USA). Farmers have been offered next to nothing for there crop making it uneconomical to transport. Heinz continue to put Produce of Australia on the can even though only 20% of the pineapple is grown within Australia. The rest comes from overseas at a very cheap rate.

It is a great Government we have when quality food grown in Australia is left to rot on the ground. Hundreds of tons, wasted. There is something wrong when my sister can buy a whole pineapple this time of year in Toronto for less than $2 and I pay more at the local farmers market here in nundah qld. Not sure where the ones she gets originate, but likely Mexico. A good few thousand kilometres away.
