Yeah, Chris. SSA. My brain is still mush. Still, to own a firearm, don't you have to be in the SSA? I have three family members who are registered firearm owners. I don't pay it that much attention, since my firearm interest died after the Army a bit, but I thought they all needed SSA membership. Not so?

Incorrect IMHO. While there are mental health challenges manifesting tragically in the form of crime and gun violence, more accurately with this is that we here in the USA have more of a problem upholding our first amendment rights to free speech against corporate tyranny. The almighty dollar speaks so loudly as to trample on rights, too often without regard to common sense or constitutionality. Now apparently, it too is being exported unfortunately.

I have had my rifles for many years and have Never joined any shooters club or any gun forum, I haven't Had to nor do I feel I have any need for joining these groups.
These rifles are "Tools" to me and I am not in any club or forum that discusses spanners, sockets or any other tool for that matter either.
Cutting out the "On Target" part of the forum is really No "Big Deal" to me But it IS the thin end of the wedge where this "Political correctness" or "Social Engineering" is slowly taking away our Rights to Free Speech.
I DO fully understand why the forum owners have taken his action, What I can't understand is why all these civil libertarians and the such can influence the way the rest of the population in what they can say or do.

from what i have seen, it is the advertisers that are driving the changes as they don't want their products associated with certain catergories of products
the advertising agencies respond to those market demands..
google is just responding to market conditions, be they right or wrong.
it is all consumer driven.
their is to much power is too few hands when it comes to advertising $'s
last time i looked 83% of every advertising $ in Australia was headed to social media and it is killing traditional forms of advertising
people continue to flock to social media, so the money follows...

Further to what Inc just said, roughly....... this is not censorship, it is about content rating and related advertising. The Forum itself has a general rating, on this basis certain advertising content is pushed through to the site based on a number of parameters relating to the site content, users browsing habits etc etc. Advertisers state to agencies (adsense etal) that they only want their products/services to be pushed to sites with certain content and content ratings thus avoiding "unfortunate associations". To ensure this happens, Adsense constantly monitor participating websites using complex algorithms. If websites (like AULRO) who participate in these advertising programs have contant that falls foul of the algorithms based on ratings etc, warnings are issued.
It really is a bit like the moderation that happens here on the forum by moderators to maintain "decorum", but rather to ensure content/advertising synergy.
Of course, it's the website owners choice to opt out of these advertising programs and lose the advertising revenue but regain complete freedom in the content published on the website.
In the case of AULRO, Inc opts to keep the advertising so we can keep talking about everything else other than guns (and porn and .....).
Cheers,
Sean

That is correct Rangieman.....but......your hunting 'permit' allows you to use your firearm for hunting only. It does not permit you to sight in your firearm or practice your shooting skills at targets. This is why many guys have their Victorian Firearm License endorsed "Hunting/Sport Target Shooting and with SSAA membership to cover this Sport/Target Shooting activity.
