There is often huge mining equipment hauled up and down the Great Northern highway here in the West.
This is a huge load but it wouldn't be any surprise to me to see such a load on this highway here in the West.

Many years ago, when my boat was moored at Williamstown in Melbourne, I drove down early one Sunday morning to find a very similar generator arriving at the new gas fired power station there.

Have seen some massive loads like that on The New England Highway travelling the Upper Hunter/New England.
We used to wonder how some loads actually squeezed down the main street of Murrurundi.

The only differance is that here people would be complaing that they are not doing the speed and holding up traffic !!!!

We get that a bit here too But with the load quite often taking up both lanes of the road there isn't much they can do about it.
If you are following one it is a great excuse to pull over and have a break for an hour and when you pass these loads it is prudent to pull completely off the road which is another excuse to have a short break

What used to crack me up is that we'd see a load like that coming and pull right off the road, it was s weekly occurrence, but I'm assuming city drivers would still blithely drive in their lane until confronted with a white gloved hand from a copper in a car in their lane forcing them off the road! That's a serious tow job!

Or with smaller loads the pilot vehicle.

If they saw a Dump truck tray that covers the entire road barrelling down on them they would head for the scrub pretty quickly I would imagine
