Car park at the Emerald Botanic Garden, parked up with three other vans after doing about 600ks today. Heading for Winton and beyond tomorrow.

Lawn Hill Gorge in northern Queensland. It's 42 in the shade, they haven't had decent rain since 2012 and the fridges are struggling to cope despite the solar pumping in 11 amps/hour. Fortunately the beer fridge is coping. The only sensible thing to do is jump in the water. We swam from the waterfall to the camping area this morning and it's almost time for another dip. No need for hot water systems in the showers - the tap water is lukewarm.

Also, there are too many young idiots in Hiluxes doing about twice the speed of everyone else on rutted roads, spraying gravel and fishtailing. Many corners feature an ornamental vehicle on its roof from where some clown lost control. Bah humbug! I'm rapidly turning into a Grey Nomad.

Leichardt Falls near Burketown, except the drought means the falls are dried up and there are just ponds, with salties. Still a nice spot.
