    AIR BAG RECALL

I was looking at the ACCC air bag recall list on news this morning , there are # Honda motorcycles on the list When did they start fitting air bags to motorcycles . I know I do not know much about motorcycles but what is different about these motorcycles that they need air bags? May be I should read all the article & there is another issue with motorcycles

The Honda Goldwing is essentially a Buick on two wheels! If you hit something you've got an awful lot of dashboard and fairing to carve yourself up on.

I was going to say Cadillac, but yes.

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filed last year. However, new owners Key Safety Systems may find themselves having to stump up. Honda is in the frame as well, as authorities believe they have known about the airbag issue for years but failed to act.

LR is definitely on the North American list. Takata had 20% of the market, so it's likely that some LRs would have their product.

I checked the ACCC and Product Safety lists and LR is not on it - yet on the lists shown on TV LR was there - I wish they would get their act together.

Millions of Australians ordered to have deadly airbags removed from their cars
Airbag recall: Millions of Australians ordered to have deadly defects removed - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Land Rover is being added to the list, but the details of which LR vehicles are affected aren't on the list yet.

This story contains a link to the current list. I think our Mazda 2 is affected.
If your vehicle has an ALPHA version of the Takata airbag and the airbag goes off there is a 50% chance it will fire shards which could kill you. Twenty people have already died. The advice for people with an ALPHA version of the airbag is to park and don't drive it until the manufacturer replaces the airbag, so that's serious.

This is old news except now they are going to force manufacturers to action instead of dragging their feet, and Honda have been replacing the air bags in bikes for about 12 months - i do the customs clearance for Honda spare parts at work.
