recycling a 44 gal drum. what lengths people go to.

Recycling making new products out of old, we throw a lot of stuff out. These people are amazing in the lengths they go to to transform a used 44 galllon drum into the cooker, where we tend to take stuff for granted.

Used to be very common in the WA Goldfields to see old houses / miner's cottages etc with walls clad in flattened out cyanide drums.

These days, cyanide comes either in liquid form in bulk tankers, or (rarely now) as a solid "pillow" in one metre cubed plywood boxes (with plastic lining inside). The boxes are quite handy if you can get hold of them.

In east Africa in places like Tanzania, if a vehicle was crashed on the side of the road it would be stripped to a bare shell and parts used for other vehicles or made into other articles, old tyres would be made into suspension bushes and shoes.

They also make nice drums ( percussion variety) , but as seen re used in a society that isn’t so seemingly disposable oriented with the resources at hand.

    USED FOR VEHICLE REPAIRS

I used to have a book on bush fixes and there was a story where a vehicle burnt the clutch out, two blokes cut the top and bottom out of a 44 gal drum and fashioned a clutch plate out of them.from memory the vehicle was a 1936 dodge It was one of many books that have gone walk bouts from my colection.

I'm sure I remember reading something similar in the book on the Outback Mailman, Tom Kruse.
