    Brisbane Motor Show Report.

    1st things 1st - thanks Stevo68.

Went to the Motor Show yesterday. What a let down.

Firstly (and I suppose I shouldn't be the least bit surprised) Land Rover weren't there.

A mate of mine from work is thinking of buying a new Hilux so I went and at in one. 8O What a heap of characterless, soul-less piece of cr@p. Then I went to the counter and asked for some information on the 4x4 version of the Hilux. They threw a brochure at me and then walked away. So it's not just LR that offer such levels of service....

As for Nissan - they had an Xtrail and a Pathy (short I think not for Pathfinder, but for Pathetic) on display but no Patrol. Weird.

I sat in an MX5, a Hyundai Tiburon, and a few other sports cars. Couldn't see thropugh the windscreen much - mostly the top support took up my vision and with the roof on/up my head hit it.

They wouldn't let anyone sit in a Lotis Elise but I can tell you they start at around $103,000. Luckily I probably wouldn't fit in one of those either.

They had a pair of Bentlys. Bloody huge, bloody expensive. Bloody silly.

They had a pair of Lamborghinis. There was a $300,000 price difference between the two but you'd look like a pratt driving either so save your cash and go for the cheap $400,000 version.

They had a pile of Ferraris but why you'd buy one in preference to an Aston Martin I have no idea. Of course most people wouldn;t know this coz Aston weren't there either. (It must be an English car thing). No - Lotus and Jag and Bently were there. It must just be a 'LR / Aston' thing.

Sat in heaps of small cars - amazed how good these are for the money these days. Quite liked the Suzuki Swift, too. They all use about 1/3 of the fuel of the Rangie.

Amusingly, when asked "what do you drive at the moment" I answered that we drive a Range Rover and were looking for a daily commuter car. They sudddenly treated me with respect. ****** ! Everyone deserves respect not just loaded types.

And that was the Motor show for another year. That'll mean I don't have top go for another 10 or so....

Hey.... I was there from 2pm until 6:30 or so... and I didn't see you! I need to make a couple of comments on this.

Firstly, there was a patrol there... I sat in it. Thing was, the clutch was **really** heavy, so I'm not sure if they are vaccum assisted. If they are not... then it was probably off being fixed.
While we were on the nissan stand, I noted that I the nissan 4wd cab ute had a really uncomfortable driving position

Next... is that mate of yours related to me?? I had a look at the hi-lux too, and I thought it was very average. I must say, I think he's going to be dissapointed. The Toyota girls were far more appealing than any of their cars... 8O

As to Lotus... if you'd met up with me I would have got you a sit in the Elise. I got my two mates into it!!

Suzuki MINIwannabee... aaarrrgghhh.. I must take you for a drive in a real MINI. Did anyone else try the gearchange on the baby suzuki 4wd? It was horrid!

Now to Steve's trivia for the show. Did anyone notice that....

    - All the alfa's had carpet lining the rear wheel arches?
    - All of the Aussie fords at the show had gloss paint underbonnet.
    - The red hondas had PINK paint under the bonnet and in door jams (yeeuch).
    - none of the Audi girls were wearing bras 8O 8O
    - The landcruiser had some of the best carpet in any car that I could get into at the show

So I missed a Patrol... I'll live. LOL

No I also have ANOTHER mate that has a Hilux.
I obviously have too many stupid friends.

The various girls didn't escape my notice. The ones holding the PPQ plates at the auction weren;t selected for their witty conversation, let me tell you.

The difference is - Suzuki $20K, Mini $35K plus. That puts it well out of the price game I'm afraid. 'twas VERY nice though.

I would have liked to sit in the ELise just to see what I could, or couldn't see from the drivers seat.

And you are FAR too obsessed with CARPET :!: (especially for a Defender owner).

A mate of mine has a Mini Cooper S and needed a bigger car for the weekend to tow a trailer.

    So we swapped.
