    OMG

Watched this vid and i was surprised (shocked) how many things were wrong as in do`s and dont`s.
Seeing as a known 4wd supplier was involved it does not make for good advertising on their behalf

    Yes the tow ball
Grabbing a loaded which rope .
Standing close to a winch rope when winching.
No gloves when handling the rope not critical with nylon rope but.
Also not critical but could of been winching straight on.
Im guessing ol mate with the D2 might pay to drop tyre pressure`s a bit aswell and use low range .
All this i thought is not good advertising for a major brand which should be condoning safe procedures .

Tow ball is the only issue I had.....30sec and receiver could have been removed and pin through the strap

Oh and I wouldn’t have started a recovery until his tyre pressures were at 16.....than I recon he would have driven out himself.

I would have selected 1st and continued driving if the owner didn’t want to drop his tyre pressure or change to using the pin.

In this case it *may* be argued that no kinetic recovery was being undertaken, and that it was a simple tow with no stretch (stored energy) involved. Exactly what a tow ball is designed to do...

However I would also have changed the hitch to the pin..

There would be kinetic energy in that recovery .
Which ever safe procedure is always better in any recovery no mater what !

All they had to do was to change the tow ball over for a hitch receiver and then snatch the disco out, Choosing to use the Winch in this situation is pretty stupid in the first place.
If they wanted or had to use the winch then they should have used maxtracks to lift the disco out of the bog without it uselessly spinning its wheels with nothing to grip onto.
4x Maxtracks would have most likely have got the disco out of the bog without the need of a snatch anyway

thats a pretty gentle pull.... I'd have been happy to use the towbar. Its not something bogged to its chassis wth a 3.5ton **** tank being thrown at it with a rubber band between them.

I have no problem with any of it including the towball except the bloke doing the yelling and the disco should have been useing just enough revs to assist the winch.Winching would be the best method of recovery .It gives the winch a work out wich is always a plus and a light straight pull allows the line to be spooled easily and the least stress to both vehicles
