Motor Trend On Demand- Has anyone subscribed? And Geoblocked content.

If anyone watches a bit of youtube and likes cars, you've probably stumbled across series such as 'Dirt Every Day', 'Roadkill', and 'Hot Rod Garage'. Great entertainment.
The whole youtube model wasn't paying the bills, so the new episodes for these series are now behind a paywall- on their subscription service "Motor Trend On Demand". The current cost is approx $25 USD per year, so not outrageous if the entertainment value is there. I'm currently on a 14 day trial and seeing how it goes.

Has anyone else been a long(er) term subscriber to this? I've noticed the original content is bad-ass (Dirt every day, roadkill, hot rod garage, plus some other series which were not aired on youtube like junkyard gold and others)... but I'm a bit miffed that a good chunk of the content is geoblocked in AU...
    1) Anyone know an easy (free) way to get around geoblocking?
    2) If you've been paying, do you see the value with what's available to us poor disenfranchised Australians?
The $30 AUD subscription cost is not outrageous, but it sucks that we can only access 1/3 of the content (like all the live motor sport). I want my money's worth damnit!

That's interesting that some content is geoblocked, as its all their property and their distribution.

They should also probably warn non US users about the geoblock before you sign up I suppose.

    My answers to your questions:
    1) A VPN service is the easiest way. There are free options that are either data limited, speed limited or as supported. I tried tunnel bear and really liked it, though apparently it was just bought by McAfee. There are heaps out there for PC, Mac, browsers or phones.
    2) I haven't subscribed so don't know. Very entertaining YouTube content though, so keen to hear what you think of it.

The content I've watched (that is available) is very good. Some of the blocked content is motorsport, where there is probably a deal with Fox sports or someone locally which restricts broadcast. My guess is only approx 1/3 of their content is available.
Realistically, I get a year of (available) content for the price of one and a bit movie tickets... so not bad value in my book.

I was hoping to get MTOD on the big screen using chromecast and their MTOD app... but this too is not available to me (either on my 2 android devices, or apple products).

My work laptop has a VPN - I get the craziest German youtube and spotify ads I tested it out, but still blocked. Plus I run into blurring the whole work/social thing which I try to keep as separate as I can.

It sounds like the work VPN routes via Germany, which will still be adblocked from US servers.

Try one of the VPNs at this site - they will route your internet connection via a server in America so the IP address that is broadcast to the MTOD servers is from America and it should enable you to watch all of the content.

I've tried tunnel bear and opera and both worked OK - tunnel bear was easier to use, though the free version has more limitations.

Currently watching 'All Girl Garage' via VPN on Opera browser.
    Easy and free.
Video quality suffers a little (it's about 720P), but all in all, OK.
