    NBN doesn't like the weather...

Anyone else have their internet dropout when it rains? Apparently its because the fandagled awesome technology that is fibre to the node uses live power nodes which have automatic cutoffs when a bit of water gets in there. As they're not sealed this seems to happen quite a bit.

I get a bit ****ed off when I realise this is the result of political football.

    Grrrr

Haven't got NBN yet, but it's real good to see nothing changes - NOT!

My ADSL drops in and out anytime we get more than about 10mm of rain. Couple of days later and it's all good again.

Heavy rain kills mine. Either local or at the other earth station. It did not affect it for the first year. I wonder if the reason is the dish has got a bit out of alignment.

12 hours later and its still out.

You think 30 or 40 billion dollars would have bought something a bit more water proof yeah?

First world problem, I know. At least it's not like south Australia - at least we still have power NBN doesn't like the weather...

Our NBN doesn't like wind or rain.

Yep fibre to the node means a long run of ancient Roman copper underground ...needless to say waterproofing the terracotta and concrete pits along the way was not their strength. I’ve been told it will be at least a year before they ‘look’ at the problem.

Wasting public money for for short term commercial and petty political gain is somehow the Australian way. ...how did this happen?

Reports from some northern suburbs of Perth suggest the recently installed NBN is around 70% the speed of previous Broadband... Blaming the copper stuff for the last lap can't account for that much degradation IMHO (Same Cu wires as used by Broadband...)
