Choreographer was obviously NOT related, even distantly, to the bloke wot did the Sydiney Olympics. [bigwhistle]
Pinching half of one idea would have doubled the appeal !
Well as I never watched a minute of the opening, so I wan’t comment.
But my wife and daughter went for a drive over through Surfers Paradise this afternoon and they both reckoned the games are the best thing to happen on the GC.
They said that even though it was a Saturday afternoon, normally prime time for Surfers, it was the easiest and quietest trip they have ever had.
I feel so sorry for all the small businesses that are being decimated by the total lack of anybody, local or tourist who are NOT visiting the place.
And then there is our great Mayor, who made it quite clear he couldn’t give a dumb about the locals.
I went to Wollies the night before last, at 11 PM and as I got to the checkout, the woman told me the security guard had told them there was a customer in the store.
She said I made it one more than they had the night before.
I managed to stay tuned till half way through a totally cringe worthy 'Australias first aboriginal rapper' until I could suffer no more of the unintelligble lyrics and psuedo American pandering. I thought it sub standard and an embarrassment.

Well, they can have any ceremony they want, looking at the results. Australia first, everyone else a distant second. And the standard the Aussies have reached, in just about every sport, is incredible. And all this without having to have a national lottery to fund them, unlike England.
A star studded closing ceremony is rumoured to have the medal ceremony for the new sport of hide and seek. African athletes are the front runners. I-pads will be provided for English Royals too bored to watch.
