    Bee 🐝 or wasp

Just wondering what these little guys are exactly?
They’ve created what seems to be a hive under a false floor at the back patio and I’m wondering about the best way to dispatch them.

They look very European Wasp-ish to me. I dunno what the best method to dispatch them is but I'd very much avoid angering them. If they must be angered and their home wrecked I be getting someone else to do it while I went elsewhere and had a quiet beer or three.

We get them at least once a year.

I’ve dealt with them by locking a can of spray “on” and tossing it like a grenade.

Make sure all pets, humans etc are safely inside.

Yep, European Wasp and maybe a professional pest controller to rid them.

get some ant and wasp powder, get a bit of mince in pet proof container with lots of powder around it on the landing zone, it will sort them over time. also google pics of euro wasps nests, some are huge.

Yep euro wasp . Buy wasp and ant dust from bunnings under $20 . Dust the entrance of the nest after dark . If using a torch make sure you cover the light with RED celphane otherwise they will bolt out and attack the torch and you

European wasp, they are attracted to proteins like meat rather than sugars like bees. They are horrible aggressive things, and are detrimental to a lot of bugs and bees. Be careful with them, someone I know, I told him he was a silly old fool...he threw a rock at a nest of them...they swarmed and attacked him, chased him...he got many stings on his bald head!!

If you can see the hole where the nest opeing is in the ground, they are pretty easy to deal with. Get a can of wasp dust, wait until late at night when it's cool. Put on several layers of clothes, beanies, balaclavas etc. Squirt a good dose of the wasp dust down the hole and immediately bury the hole with a couple of shovels full of dirt and compact it woth your foot. Any wasp outside the nest overnight will die, the wasp dust will kill what's in the nest before they can dig themselves out.

Done a few like that - was shown this method by a pest controller who did a giant one at a place I used to work.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
