I've noticed a considerable reduction in traffic on major arterial roads. Not a bad thing I suppose. Even the school drop-off seems to have reduced. Perhaps families on public transport routes have encouraged their offspring to make their own way to school. Unfortunately for us it's a 20 minute drive, or an hour and a half across 3 busses and a train to get to school.
Heading back to the late 2019 posts, I'm convinced my old man reckoned he'd paid more tax on the roads than anyone else and therefore he owned them. When we went out to meetings, he'd sit in the right hand lane until 200M before he had to turn left, doing 5 k's under the limit. That might be 2 k's or it might be 200k's. I pointed out if he was doing that in the UK someone would run him off the road, rip his right arm off and beat him to death with the wet end.
When I was a kid he was convinced he was Stirling Moss. He had a successive chain of Alphas (rusted to bits) and Porches and used to routinely teach me about taking the racing line through corners. One day he sold the V10 Touareg and bought a 200 series and went from Sir Stirling Moss to Uncle Arthur in about 20 seconds. From 20 over to 20 under, but in the right hand lane holding up traffic.
Anyway, fuel is expensive and I suspect that people are making alternative arrangements.
I used a couple of hundred litres of Diesel on the weekend and I'm expecting the price at the yacht club to be > $3/L. Bastards.
