Bio diesel and a TDi
This is in addition to Redbacks observtions about B100 and a Td5 - I figure that the TDi will have different characteristics in using this fuel.
Firstly, the two locations (so far), are Marrickville Rd Marrickville, cross street Sydney Road, just down from Sydneham Railway station. It has a really big "Bio Diesel" sign up, and is NOT 24hrs. The other is Zoom fuel, Milperra Rd Bankstown westbound, just west of The River road, McDonalds and BP, open 24hrs. No signs other than a little one near the pump handle.
Zoom seems to tie it's prices about 10 cents/L lower than BP ( I suppose who can blame them since it's right next door)
You can tell you are getting biodiesel when it foams up: looks a really weird yellow colour. It does smell different when filling, but not unpleasant.
I've had my TDi manual running this for two weeks now - and generally it is marginally better than ordinary diesel.
I let my tank run down to as low as possible - filled 86 L.
As per Redbacks observations, marginally better performance straight away. Smoke on startup not as black and noticeable. Driving around the city, and not towing 750k/80L(10.6 L/100K)
That is an inprovement on the usual 700k/80L(11.4 L/100K)
And that's with original injectors @ 270000 K. I'm about to find some new injectors - I'll report in due course when they are in.
