Disco got a nudge from behind.

On the way to work this morning. Turning right from Pound road onto South Gipsland highway. This right turn is gently down hill. I was in the traffic waiting for the lights to change. There was a jolt from behind. Some muuppet head had rolled into the back of me. Was a small car, could not even see it behind me until I began to move on. Did not bother to get out as any damage was going to be theirs as I have a tow bar with hitch. Got to work and sure enough there was no damage to my Disco. Not so sure the muppet head would have got away with out any damage.

Must be the road/week for it.
We got nailed at Pound Rd/Pound Rd yesterday where the new round-about is going in. We scored some scratches on the tow bar,,, he scored a hole in his bumper. Wishing it had gone through his radiator,,, stupid ****wit. So sick of ******* that aren't paying attention.

I’d get your Tow bar mounting point checked... the frame can suffer.

Agree, same happened to me and I persisted to get a new tow bar.....given my DO35 pin was bent, still functioning but bent.

I would have stop and hopefully they would have done the same and exchanged details.

It was a very low impact. Just a nudge by a small car. Disco did not move at all. Just felt the contact. Then realised some one most likely needed to put there phone down and wake up. Hmm could have gone for whip lash, wonder what the pay out for that would be? As I posted checked the pin etc, and no damage.

Mine will be off to be checked shortly. I've got the DO45,, doubt there will be any damage, but it will be checked anyway. Last thing I need is to lose the van on the trip.

Last time this happened to me, the car was a write off, about $200 damage to my trailer - and a new crossmember for the County - and months of my wrangling with his insurer, who wanted to write off my car and then could not find anyone prepared to replace the crossmember - and I had to find the new crossmember for them. (And I'm certain the driver was on the phone - I'd been stopped waiting to turn right for about two minutes.)

The one before that, when I stopped for a blind pedestrian, was more like your event - some white paint on the towbar, and her bonnet crumpled up against the windscreen.

Happened to us some years ago in the D1. Young tradie is his boss's white Commodore ute. He was checking his street map. Front of the Commode was a mess with my tow bar in the radiator. Just a white scratch on my bumper.

Had a similar thing years ago.
Waiting at roadworks out the back of Narrandera.
Some half awake fool just drove into the back of my D1 and hit me at about 70 to 80.
Thought he might be dead but he seemed ok.
Bumper at windscreen, small Mazda Ute.
I drove the D1 back to where I was staying. Insurer wanted to repair it but I pushed them to write it off. The impact was too significant to trust that a repair would result in a reliable vehicle. Got a 21k payout as they made a mistake on the policy..bought my current D1 for 11. That was 2009. 11 was top dollar but it was a good one and still going strong.
Still get a sore neck regularly from the whiplash injury.

Had similar a while back when I still had the D2. A bloke in a Commodore ran into the back of me at the lights in Hannan Street (main street of Kal). Only a slight bump as I was stopped at the lights, and he had only just pulled out of a parking bay behind me. I got out and had a look at the back of the D2 - the towbar & ball was impaled through the front bumper of the Commodore, in the vent just above his number plate. He didn't even get out of his car to look. When I asked him about it, he was not at all interested, and just said that he wasn't paying attention.

So I got back into the D2, and when the lights changed, I drove off. His plastic bumper bar (complete assembly) peeled off his car and remained attached to the back of the Disco - much to the amusement of a couple of pedestrians standing at the lights. I continued driving for about a block and a half with this idiot chasing me, frantically flashing his lights and waving his arm out the side window. Eventually I pulled over, got out and pulled his bumper off the tow bar and threw it into the gutter - got back into the Disco and drove off. I think he might have been paying attention by then.
    Cheers .........
