    Veteran Affairs Advocate

    Hi All,

Can anybody in the Brisbane area, preferably SW, recommend a Vet Advocate? I believe they are graded from 1 - 5 ... 5 being extremely rare but most experienced.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

    About Us
The Veterans' Support and Advocacy Service Australia Inc (VSASA) aims to assist all veterans, peace keepers and effective services members, including military compensation scheme members. The service helps prepare paperwork, assists with claims and provides ongoing support to members and families. All services and activities are provided by volunteers. Each branch of VSASA has individual functions and activities throughout the week.

I am not sure how current the listing is as I checked their website link and it says it is no longer running.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Lionel,

Thanks for this. I think you've just highlighted one of the issues .... there are lots of agencies listed on the internet and for varying reasons (Inc the fraud debacle of some RSLs), there may be fewer around. I was looking for personal recommendations from ex-vets or their supporters that have used individual's services. With everything human ... these experiences can vary.

I really appreciate your response mate.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I think it more finding one who you gel with, can build a relationship with and maybe from the same era of service. Go to a few and feel them out, ask them for references.

I used my local RSL, they assisted me and I had some success.

If and when I get the energy to revisit and get re-assessed I’ll be on the search for one that’s a better fit....even though I loathed the process (the coverage on TV does show the challenges we have in making claims) I will be hitting up the few ex-contacts I have as I’m sure I would find a couple to approach by networking.

Sorry I don’t have any names for you.

Peter McNamara, , you will not get any better. And natures gentleman. Sandgate sub branch, just graded 5 , I believe.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    Thanks Bob10,

Grade 5 is a very rare distinction I believe.

Peter has been elected President of the Sandgate Sub-branch, and is mentoring a new female advocate. I haven't spoken to her yet, but she will be well trained.
