    ROTATOR CUFF INJURIES

I noticed a few of us have rotator cuff injuries, I believe members like Bohica and JC have rotaor cuff injuries
Mines flaired up again and is causing some agonising pain, using my walking stick exerts pressure on it also.
I had xrays and ultra sounds done and diagnosis is chronic Subacromial Bursitis, I have a referral for an ultra sound guided Steriod injection to be done the local public hospital under medicare so no cost. Last one lasted me 10 years. so hopefully this one will last also.

    Sorry to hear Mario😣.
It is debilitating for some, in my situation i have no choice but to carry on. Utterly sick of the pain and lack of articulation but at the moment there is absolutely nothing i can change, as the business is now up for sale i can at least see an end to it, one day...😣😣.
    Best wishes to you☺

I suffered for years but it cleared up when I fractured my scapula and my arm was immobilised in a sling for 6 weeks. It hasn’t reoccurred.

It was my right arm and I found not using the armrest or window sill as an armrest helped a lot.

I am 77. I have arthritis in the left ball and socket joint and have two of the three tendons in the joint worn to the point of separation. No cure for the tendons which are painful and limit range of movements. The joint can be replaced which is major surgery involving the forearm being strapped across my chest for up to 6 months to heal followed by 6 months intensive rehabilitation. This is considered high risk surgery as I have heart disease. It is unlikely that a surgeon would be prepared to accept me as a patient. Anyhow I do not wish to lose a year of the few I have left so decided not to proceed. The orthopod told me that the tendon damage is common in people aged over 50 and most over 50's would show some symptoms. Mine was probably exacerbated by being a dominant left hander, the physical labour involved as a fitter-machinist and truck owner-driver, and a bad fall.

I also suffer from the affliction going on 5 years, but got really bad 2 years ago , Never played sport , never been in a gym.

lifted lots of heavy parts , worked under loads of vehicles, dug lots of holes .
had a couple of courses of cortisone , great at the beginning but they have no effect anymore. Really plays up at night.

Not keen on surgery as my advice is the chance of a successful outcome is about 25% , no higher than the chance of self recovery.

No more Iveco transfer case rebuilds for me !!

I spent a few years with many hours with my arms raised working over my head, I bet JC yours is from working under hoists for long periods?

I damaged my left shoulder about 15 years ago.
Still causes discomfort to this day, but I find strengthening exercises to reduce the pain.

Mine grinds and cracks.. locks up, aches etc.

What I learned in hindsight was that lifting a 351 Cleveland into a trailer on my own was asking a bit too much of the poor shoulder!

They always said hard physical work never killed anyonedidn't they , but they didn't mention how your body wears out though ! did they and they want to increase the retirement age to 70!

The 70 thing I think is kind of fair.

We live better and longer than ever before and the pension was always a safety net, not a retirement plan.

Won’t impact me, I’m Grandpa claused to 60. But I’ll be out of here before then, living it up in Thailand all going to plan...

I had just my cortisone injection this morning art the local hospital. Some what different to what I remember having it done privately years ago. They coated my shoulder with that brown stuff gave me a local then followed by the thicker cortisone needle. I reckon I could not have stood the procedure without the local first. The doctor was great, he took the time to show me the problems on the ultra sound screen the worn out joint, the thin tendon causing the problems. The ultrasound screen was straight in front of me and I could watch the procedure sitting in the chair, saw the needle going in and the final position, took all of 10 mins. I have found recently that everything I have had done through the public system has been a more pleasant experience to what I previously have received via the private system. You aren't just a cash cow
