When the bike rules changed (here in WA), it included the ability to cross a solid white line to pass a bike if safe to do so. Still a big no-no for vehicles at speed (and intersections - a pet hate of mine, but let's not get started on that one!)

Are you saying the law says you cant cross the line at speed or that you don't like to cross the line at speed?

It happens a lot where I live.

Maybe if pushbikes were banned on arterial roads and freeways during peak hours it would alliviate this problem somewhat as would drivers showing some patiance with bike riders.

For the commuters like I was I.e. in Lycra with back pack on and riding solo we want to get to work just as quick as cars therefore use the mode direct route which generally include the major roads....back when I used to ride four days per week I would be going quicker than peak hour traffic...Sandgate and nudgee and kingsfordsmith rd’s

I don't think that solo riders cause any problems whatsoever it's the packs of bikes on our roads that are problematic.
If these people that want to ride around in packs that are causing the problem were restricted to off peak low traffic areas it would help greatly.
Lets face it the vast majority of these pack riders are doing this recreationally so restricting this activity to off peak or low traffic roads will not only reduce frustration and congestion on the roads it will make their hobby/pastime much safer as well.
