    Pickles.
Good idea. While we are at it, everyone who walks on a footpath, which is a road-related area, should wear overalls with a clearly identifiable number on it, so we can keep an eye on their behaviour too.

given the number of drunk pedestrian fatalities each year, it would be a good idea.

I think most would be happy for cyclist to be identifiable (registered) at no cost. Simply add the info to the rider's car license or rego. In the case of a child then add to the parents. There is the obvious insurance cost but I would like to think anyone that uses anything on a public road would cover themselves with insurance.

The fact that these discussions are commonplace, generate very heated debate and that a petition with 100,000 or so signatures exists indicates that there is a real issue. I would also hope that any discussions could be had without the cheap (provocative) shots that add nothing to the place.

Not quite sure why a cyclist needs to be identified...they are vulnerable road users...if they stuff up, they usually end 2nd best... worst off...injured or dead.

We all shake our heads at how regulated and ruled our lives have become, how much under the eye of big brother we are, how there is very little room left for human error without legal and litigated repercussions....this is how we have got to this point...every time we say, 'there should be a rule about that', 'there should be a law against that', 'there should be someone held accountable for this'.....we put that nail in the coffin for life as it has become.

Today a rego number on a bike, tomorrow a fine if you don't have it, next year a rego fee to cover enforcement costs, the year after, a kid who has very limited opportunities for outdoor fun in a town, compared to what we had decades ago...is being harassed for riding his bloody bicycle without a plate, or current rego etc.

Rant over, let me teleport back to the 80's when we still had a bit of freedom and a sense of humour!

Never underestimate the burning desire of Two Ton Tin Tank pilots for petty revenge on what they see as poor people.

    Hi,
Give it a few years and A.I., G.P.S from your phone, and traffic cams, the who, how, why and when will be known instantly.
Probably auto-allocate the fine from the crypto-account pending court appearance via video link or default acceptance of the fine.
    Cheers
