Find a second hand “Big Wally”
We are moving onto a 24 acre block shortly and will need a ute to poke around the paddocks (yes I know there are real farm owners here who will laugh at the idea that a 24ac property has paddocks...) and do town runs of about 50km return.
It doesnt need to be fancy or perfect but It will need to be 4wd, have reasonable clearance, be reliable and not too uncomfortable and cater to someone 192cm.
It could be extra cab, standard cab or even dual cab I suppose - prefer diesel but that isnt a deal breaker.
Would love a D1 ute but not many about.
I dont want to spend much, certainly under 10k prefer closer to 5.
What is a good second hand 4wd ute? There are heaps on Carsales.

There are heaps of Series landrovers on Gumtree that are reasonably priced that would fit the bill perfectly.
There is nothing wrong with a 24 acre farm, in Vietnam you would be considered as a Land Barron
Some poultry, a couple of poddy calf's , a handful of sheep and a veggie patch will fit easily on 24 acres so you shouldn't need to buy any meat or veg and what you produce yourself Always tastes much better that stuff from the supermarket.
The lifestyle is also SOOOOO much better than living like a sardine in the city, Enjoy![]()

get a Perentie - plenty of resales under 10k
Get a D22 Navara dual cab, the 3.0L model, reliable as ever in my experience. $4-5000 will get you a good one. The only good navara they made.

at the risk of suggesting something from the 'other side', have a look at Rising Sun buggies. plenty of options, and not expensive for what you get.

Don.
Thanks.....Great Walls and D22’s seem like feasible choices...
For similar money a GW will have much lower mileage and be newer.
What would the case be to choose the D22 over the GW?
Never had experience of either but seen plenty of the Navaras around of course.
Navaras might be easier to maintain due to parts availability?
In general, Nissan parts will be expensive, but on the other hand they do not seem to need much - may have better quality components - so it is a trade-off.
(I've had a Pathfinder for 20 years and well over 340 k km that hasn't cost much at all except oil changes, servicing and a suspension update - rather different from my LRs !!).
I think too, that a Nissan may have potential parts supply problems once they get to age 20.
I know nothing about GWs![]()
Parts are everywhere, they've been around for years with plenty of aftermarket available. How many great wall parts will you be able to buy in a few years? My brother just bought one for $4000 and it's a ripper, my dad bought one new years ago and 300,000km later it has not been in for any repair just regular servicing.
