    What does Extreme mean?

I often read that you drive a Defender 110 "Extreme"...

I've got a mate with an extreme and due to him having a work car his wife drives it all the time, now that seems extreme to me! I wouldn't let my wife take the LR while I drove the 2wd, ouch!

He/they do take it off-roading and use it for what it was designed and it does perform swimingly,(now doesn't that sound pleasant). But seriously he used it to get to more places than my old jeep wrangler. Go the LR.

Obviously don't get them in Germany!

    Look here:

They've stopped calling it the Extreme now - Just a 110.[/url]

Yep only ever seen em in OZ, just a marketing ploy, basically a standard 110 defender with a few extra bits fitted from the factory

    Bull bar
    ABS/ETC
    Air-con
    Steering gaurd
    BFG ATs
    Alloy wheels
    Extreme stickers

I think thats about it for the extras, I think thats all the old mans came with standard. Most other people in the rest of the world have to pay for those options as extras.

As mentioned above, from the 05 model they stopped calling them Extreme. However they are the same car. The only difference is that they don't come with a bullbar or sidesteps. However they do score remote central locking and a cd player which some of the earlier extremes dont have.

They also importantly have the traction control system and alloys. There are some other very minor differences that are due to their manufacture switching from RSA to UK.

Yup, just a marketing ploy. The Extreme did come with above mentioned accessories but you didn't really have a choice .. there wasn't a non-extreme model without the gear.

Hey GreyLandie - off topic, but on on another thread you said you took off your Davis ECU, but I never found out why. Can you tell me what the problem was as I am (was) considering getting one (before I heard about you removing yours).
    Tks
