So is it legal to drive using one hand only on the wheel? If it is then why does it matter what is in the other hand (not mobiles)

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

The Cook always knocks up sarnies for munching on the open road when we're off on a trip. Cuts them triangular for easy holding. I watch the road ahead before taking a bite or having a swig from a bottle of water. Never do it on metro roads as there really isn't any need to.
Just love watching the turkeys swigging their red hot coffee hit as they drive to work.....

It must be legal in NT, as I thought they gave directions such as " Drive for 3 stubbies till you cross a river then 2 stubbies after that you'll come to a crossroads, turn left...."

"How far to Upson Downs?" Down the Boulia Road for a six pack, turn south and the station turn off is another 6 pack."

Old Western Queensland custom. Start trip with a bottle of Bundy. Throw the cap out the window as it won't be needed again.

Remember the old adage, a steak in every can ? Well in this case you are not only rehydrating, but nourishing yourself. I find that the liquid steaks are quite tasty tonite 😀

I've been known to eat from Miss India while driving, but it requires some special skills (and a large napkin).
