Volume 4 is dated @1940’s so I’d guess early 50’s.

The Minister for Pointless Purchasing has recently discovered auctions. Occasionally, amongst the guff, she chances upon an interesting gem. I am trying to date one of the gems. It is a book published by the food company, Sanitarium. There are sixty articles, spread over seventy-two pages, covering diverse subjects such as "Man's Conquest of the Air", "Panama Canal", "Television" and "Communications-How Your Post Office Works". Each article has voids for the attachment of picture cards, presumably collected from Weeties and Weet-bix.
The book predates postcodes, 1965?
My earliest recollection is from early/mid 60s, suffering Weeties for breakfast, simply to get the then currant promo, a set of Holden postcards.

Cheers Kyle, you're on the mark. The illustrations and writing style indicate that era.
I didn't expect you to be old enough to recall the promo, maybe I should PM M_M.![]()

I have the one-volume book of History of the Motor Car and the three-volume set on History of Aircraft (something like that, I'll go and check shortly). Collected when I was a kid. I was wondering what to do with them.
I also have the Nestle chocolates books with cards from chocolate bars - again collected when I was a kid. ADunno what to do with them, either.

RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
I remember them from my primary school days, early 50's. Mum had a friend who worked at Sanitarium and told her we would never eat enough Weet Bix to complete my album. Mum's friend gave her a complete set of picture cards. Ovaltine had a similar thing going as well as a weekly radio show and an "Ovaltiney's Club".

I remember the Weetbix cards, but I have no memory of what they were about!

Ian, I just flicked through this "Hobbies Illustrated" from 1947 and it doesn't mention anything about card collecting. Sorry I can't help (although I do remember the cards) We were a Vita Brit mob too.
