It kinda does look like uranium ore to me. One way to find out is to deep fry it in some tempura and eat it and see if you become a superhero.

Funny that! I wondered whether it was Autunite.

I remember in my youthful rock-hound days bringing home a rock from the Gammon Ranges with what was described by someone far more knowledgeable than me as having Autunite flakes embedded within it. It was part of my rock collection for years!!! Fortunately not one of the pretty ones that sat on my bedroom shelf

    Hi,
looks like the light green could be Autunite and the darker material could be uraninite. I picked up similar minerals there in 1984 during an undergrad field visit to Mary Kay.
Since then I've dropped back whenever I've been going past. I've also met the senior auctioneer who oversaw the the disposal of the mine equipment and town buildings.
On another trip, one of my client gave me a tour of the whole place. He was the last senior metallurgist and president if the town social club.
A fabulous place with a very interesting history. Some of the first uranium from MK was used in the Manhattan Project.
    Cheers,
    Clem.

These are pictures from my protest t-shirt purchased in 1984. These t-shirts were printed as part of a community protest to try to stop the closure of the mine.

After having another look at your original pic don I'll side with Saitch and call the red brown mineral on top Garnet. The pic below though from your second post is very likely to be uraninite. Love those old T shirts Geoman, takes me back....

Found these in about 1/2 hour in this one spot.
