Yes it doesn`t surprise me what ever you do those bastard`s if they want it bad enough will try .

I have a D035 on my camper and i made my own hitch lock that also locks the safety chains up as well with the hitch as there was none available at the time .

But at the end of the day any hitch is just bolted on and can be undone and removed and another fitted if the ****** can be bothered and they can now use a cordless grinder .

The whole idea for me is make it has hard as possible and with my set up with out removing my hitch their set up wont work on mine in the short term

All else fails Mr Browning is a very good deterrent

I've also seen a steel box with a slot in the back. The bar is lifted and the hitch dropped in to tow away. So much quicker.

Looked at most of the locks available for our new caravan.

The camper has the DO35, which has a matching locking pin arrangement,, so we purchased that. Easy to fit,, but I guess at the end of the day, if they really want it, they'll rock up with an angle grinder anyway.

The caravan has the DO45 hitch on it, and the equivalent lock for that is expensive. We ended up opting for a wheel lock instead which was I think a touch cheaper,, but my theory is, if they're going to attack it with an angle grinder, they'll be there for some time doing it, which allows more time to be caught in the act,,, hopefully

There are quite a few versions of these,, most letting you just remove the wheel, which of course gets rid of the lock. Considering most van spares are on the outside of the van, and not locked either,, easy work for a quick thief.

Hopefully,it will never be tested, but when we're out alone and away from the van, I'd hate to return to a non existent van. Although, I'm guessing I could hunt them down rather quickly when out in the scrub type environment

I run a hardened chain through the wheel on one side,and around the axle,and back through the wheel of the trailer and join it with a heavy duty padlock up behind the wheel if you know what i mean.If really worried this could be done on the wheels on both sides.

Sure, if they really want it,they will get it,but hopefully a deterrent.

Time is generally what thieves haven got much of.

They are going to steal something, it is all about making your possessions the harder ones to take...they will move onto the next target that is easier.

Battery angle grinder with those 1 mm discs make very short work of chains and padlocks. A few seconds is all. If you are afraid of theft then keep it in your yard with a couple of melon head bull terriers.
