I am sure battery angle grinders were specifically designed & built for thieves.

    Yeah.
And by that logic, cars were designed for people to do hit and runs in.
    Who needed transportation, anyways?

I run a pintle setup on my car trailer. No so much for security but, along with electric brakes and a breakaway system limits who can ask to borrow my trailer.

They got a mate of mines boat by pushing the work ute out of the way.

The thieves got very lucky, they stole it during the day and left a socket set on the drawbar of the boat trailer.
As the boat was towed over the gutter and out of the property, the lady next door looked up,she was in her front yard, because she heard the noise of the socket set as it fell off.

The thieves didn't stop, and she had no idea what was going on,thought someone was just picking up the boat.

    BigJohn,

Correct, but some deterent is better than none.
We use those cordless grinders a lot,and they aren't that quiet.

disconnect yourself emotionally from whatever you are towing and insure it properly.

some of the idle threats offered here to would be thieves make me laugh....why say it? you know it isn't going to happen.

Just curious....(sorry it's bit off topic)
But do you allow the ring, lunette to rotate? Or the hook to rotate?

As mine is not used off-road, neither rotate.

At least if you have some sort of locking device the insurance company cant say you left it vulnerable.

A locking devise of any kind is just a deterrent. As said earlier they will go after the one that is easiest to take that meets what they want. Same rational as that which drives any business. There are no better locks just different for different reasons. It may be that the insurance company has specified or your choice. A lock that is different can be what makes them chose the next van just because it will take longer to figure out how to by pass.

Here in the UK people tend not to store their van at home as insurance companies noticed that some people were using its absence as an indication the occupants were not home and so the house could be targeted.
