How long does it take to get them back?

It looks like three years in Vic too.

BTW, you don't lose points for offences. You accumulate them. They are added, not deducted for each offence.

    Hope he’s asking for a friend 🤔
There may be an option of going 12 months with no points offences, see the link above.

Yep, 3yrs in Vic for them to come of your naughty list.
If you hit 12 points and take the option to have a break from driving for a few months, then they all get wiped and you start with a clean slate once you feel it's safe to hit the road again.

I lost my license due to points maybe early 2000's.
One and only time(mainly not wearing seatbelt!).

Took the 3 month option .... as a courier you can't avoid 'inevitables' if you want to make money!

Can't remember the exact year, but after 3 months(dad drove me around for a bit, and I also took some time off too), but after the 3 months I had zero points(having 12 when the letter came in the mail).

As an employed driver now, I need a Vicroads report every year(coming up again very soon for too) .. and the solitary point I've had listed now for three years is still listed!
This solitary point is dated 31/7/15.

The annoyance: they only list a 5 year driving record history(cost $18) so even tho on the 1st Aug I have no demerit points any longer, it still shows up on the driving record(as it's a list covering 5 years) ... don't know of any way to request a 3 year record .. which would look better to the employer!

You can call a number and with your license number and DOB handy they tell you your demerit point count, and what date your last offence was.(well I only have the one point, so that's what happened for me).

Number is (Vic only AFAIK) 1300 728 977 service is 24/7 and free. Printouts cost $'s.
