Tojo have a small bite of them. Not sure how much, 5 % or so IIRC. There was a bit on the Discovery channel awhile ago about the potential conflict with Hino.

1998 – General Motors and Isuzu form DMAX, a joint venture to produce diesel engines.
1999 – GM raises its stake in Isuzu to 49%, effectively gaining control of the company.

not 100% correct

subaru used to be owned by Fuji Heavy Industries before a name change last year to subaro corp

currently 16% is owned by toyota
GM used to have a 20% stake in subaru

I agree, they should have made a sports car with a sports car motor.

Seems the motor they came with was just to get them home, considering what people do to them.
