    Simpson Desert

    We'll be seting out from Alice Springs through Finke, Old Andando, Dalhousie, crossing the Simpson to Birdsville. Leaving Alice on or around 15 August. If anyone is in the area planning a similar trip at this time and would like a second vehicle for company, we'd be pleased to share the journey.

    Thats a great trip,we did it two years ago in the D4.

    Some of the roads had very bad corrugations,actually they were the worse i had ever come across,and we had travelled some of the roads in the area about 10yrs previously.

    Have fun,and a fantastic trip.

    Stop in at the Birdsville Caravan Park and seek out Wardy as he is a manager there at the moment and is a member on here aswell

    If your staying at the park make sure you ring in advance when you get reception too reserve a spot

    The road Old South Rd/Ghan Rd has had some grading done since the Finke Desert Race and the big bulldust wallows have been filled.(not gone)
    Still plenty of corrugations to enjoy, but not as bad as a few weeks ago.
