Has your government gone crazy on roadside cable barriers?
Victoria has and I see road kill skippys in places I never saw before. After the cables go in. Obviously traps dazzled animals.
Traveling to site today I was amazed at the number of road kills....had to actually drive and weave in between them in places
I decided to count them on the way back to the motel.
169 road kills in 60km stretch.
161 of them in the first 42km.
A few pigs, a fox and a goat with he rest being skippies

Yep it’s bad out this way. Last year it was noticeable that between Roma and Charleville was the road kill zone, now with no rain it’s anywhere west of Miles - and that’s on the Warrego Highway, not the back roads.
Seems the bigger Roos are now also coming to the road.
There’s also a dead emu just east of town....plus his still live friend wandering around just to the south
Yeah those barriers just create a killing zone don’t they. Unlikely to happen this far out...hopefully

I rember a mate who lived in a forestry house in a pine plantation. He had 7 dogs. The locals used to leave Fred road kill at the front gate for dog tucker. Wombats, roos etc. But the chickens use to also peck at them, I could never understand why the egg yollks tasted and looked funny. He also had penned wild pigs (for his Bacon making) he'd thr0o a road kill in ans a few minutes late the road kill was no longer.![]()
For many of the road kills you see on the side of the road there will be a happy pannell beater somewhere![]()
