All my 4WD's have spent at least 25% of their lives on the beach and I haven't ever had any dramas with rust because hosing them down when I get home has become habitual
There are plenty of 4WD's in this area that are pretty rusty and they have most likely Never been to the beach because the only time they get washed is when it rains.

I'm on Moreton island at present and there are several Discos of various models here. I haven't seen any stuck yet.

What I did witness was my brother, in his Chinese LDV ute, recover a late model Toyota and trailer.

It used to be trendy to drive around town here with 5 post bullbars,
then it became hi-vis kit when the mines took off,
now everybody drives around with 1000litre IBC shuttles as they cart water!
WATER! Here they drive around with them full of Red/White Wine.
