Bloomin' hard product to buy. No retailers carry stock or colour samples. One has to go to the Laminex showroom, to make a selection, then order it through a retailer, who cannot give a price until the selection is made. The Brisbane showroom is at Lytton, an hours drive for me.
Is there another brand of laminate, that is easier to acquire?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

It would appear that Laminex and Formica share a showroom at Lytton/Murarrie. At least the Formica website is more informative.

Laminex make it deliberately difficult for public to do buisness with them as they really don't want to - they supply the trade directly and concentrate their efforts there. Sounds counter intuitive but they are set up to supply bulk product to kitchen manufacturers so pulling one or two sheets for a cashy isn't cost effective for them.
I sort of get this as when we do some cash sales, it will cost us more to process the job than we'll make on it at times.
A lot of buisnesses only trade with account customers for this reason.

About three years ago I went to a car parts distributor I had bought from for over thirty years to find I had to have an account with them now and an ABN They had stopped doing cash sales over the counter. Payment was now by credit card or direct deposit. A little later another outlet I had been buying from for yonks changed their business style. No longer had a shop front. Sales were now on-line and courier delivered. Their web site doesn't show their address just e-mails and mobile phone numbers. The son of a friend worked for a distributor of audio and photographic equipment for a long time. New items were only sold to trade resellers. They always sold repair parts over the counter to all comers and I had bought parts for a 50 y.o. SLR camera there. Now parts are only sold to the trade and anything over 10 y.o. you are on your own, "obsolete, no longer stocked".

Try going to a bench top manufacturer, they should have samples from lots of different laminate brands. Or, your local cabinet maker should have sample books and could order it in for you.
