We stopped at Woodford for lunch on Sunday and the bride dragged me into the Hysterical (Historical) Museum
A bunch of lovely volunteers greeted us, one lady hovered around us answering questions and did mention at the start to make sure we go right down the back as we wont be disappointed..........
Well.....we were both impressed by the Whittling Collection on display, I cannot remember the guys name but its bloody amazing.....its nearly unbelievable what he created from single pieces of timber.
If you're ever in the area its worth checking out.......I'm normally not into looking at old stuff but I'm glad we dropped in.
One of the volunteers is in her 90's and was guarding the donation jar so I dropped a 10er in, I think it made her day......

SupporterMust admit that I have never regarded it as an Australian thing! Many years ago in another lifetime I was up in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas USA. Just a small rural "village" really, but the local shop was right out of the wild west! Sitting out the front on a wooded bench were 3 or 4 old timers whittling away, probably at least one of them smoking a pipe, or chewing tobacco.Anybody into Whittling?
They seemed to have a sixth sense about strangers, although my mate and myself were with a local, proceedings and drawl came to an instant stop when we were spotted! Weird really, as even driving past a small farm with the local, we would get the "stare" as we went past!
As for some of the other "crafts" on display at those Australian places it is good to see them being preserved. Very little left these days that is truly "Australian".
