That's sad - nice guy. I have a fond memory of chatting to him many years ago at the Calder Park Thunderdome - we used to go to pretty much every Auscar race back then. Was pretty fun watching the HQ's race there too and they also briefly had truck racing there too - but almost every truck blew it's outside steer tyre due to the loads created so 90% of the race was under caution sweeping the mess up.... Anyway, he was perched on a small mini bike up at the back of the public seating area on top of the huge earth embankment. He was just sitting there, watching the crowd enjoy the show. Me and a mate went up and said g'day and spend about 5 minutes shooting the breeze with him about the Thunderdome and the racing. He was all to happy to oblige us.

    RIP.

Never met him myself, but know a couple of people who did. They would agree with what Homestar said.

A bit of a worry to be getting to the age when a lot of your role models are shuffling off this mortal coil!

Bob Jane,....a legend of Aussie Motorsport?.......No doubt, no doubt whatsoever.
But, in his day, he was a very "HARD MAN"....very hard.
His later life "dramas" were very sad......So, I ask the question, which has been asked many tiimes before,..... is it true that "Money is the root of all evil"?

My brothers' reply to that was that money can buy you some pretty evil roots!
