Picked a bit of windsceen out my head today from52 years ago

I felt something sharp in my scalp today so picked at and out came a 1MM long bit of glass.
It was from a rollover from when I was 17 in my then Austin A90. I am now 69.
I was overtaking a truck when he moved to overtake a mini coming out a petrol station at Iron Pot Creek near Ipswich. He bunted me off the bridge . Copper asked whether I had sounded horn while overtaking, nothing about him overtaking without looking.
I can recall nurses popping bits of windscreen out of my scalp, and I had a fractured skull, and had to sit for Senior 6 days later. The bridge railing went between me and the front seat passenger and out through the boot and a nail or something got me in the shoulder on the way through, and went right through except for the skin. Shoulder is still not good.

    Anyone with similar stories?

Loosely similar but my wife recently had some glass taken out of her face below her eye from a car accident 20 years before.
They knew about it but chose not to take it out at the time for whatever reason. Later years it become a big issue, wife just needed to touch it and it would bruise up like a shiner.
More importantly it left her always sore and she sort of got a phobia about it always thinking people were looking at her scars as she puts it.

So glad for her thats out now.

When i used to splice wire many years ago i had a wire splinter about 8mm long go into my palm just near where it meets the wrist , about 14 yrs later i got a lump on the tip of my elbow and when it finally popped the wire splinter came out.

Certainly not as dramatic as the car crash. Sounds like you were both unlucky but very lucky that bridge railing when between the 2 seats.

Yes nothing as dramatic as a car crash. I have what looks like a small tattoo at the base of my middle finger. It`s silica from a cylindrical grinder wheel. Had a work piece on a mandrel mounted in the chuck. I had not moved the wheel away enough as it turned out. So when I removed the work piece, which was a tad tight to get off, the back of my hand came in contact with the grinding wheel. Problem with grinding wheel injures is there is nothing to patch up, the skin is vaporised. Doc put some butterfly bandages on that pulled the wound together and said at the time I was going to have a tattoo. That was twenty or more years a go and it`s still there.

My younger brother had a black mole which had been troubling him for about 4 years removed from his old fella without surgery. Immigration deported her back to West Africa for overstaying her visa. True story.

Think of the mole as being intermittent rather than constant and you will get it.

There was a family story about one of my uncle stepping on a needle and it coming out at his shoulder decades later.
An interesting one regarding things migrating through the body, when I was studying I read something about ingrown hairs, apparently it is not unknown for a hair to grow under the skin and a hair from a scalp follicle can eventually emerge some distance away such as halfway down the person's back. Perhaps that is why at age 40 all the hair from your forehead disappears and comes out your ears and nose.
