Mine takes a pretty constant 90Mb, but then again i run 2Gb of memory and a 64-bit processor - so there may be some differences in the way mapping is handled.
Had to change back to Opera, Firefox is turning into the worst kind of memory hog. Even with only one page open Firefox is eating 150Mb of memory.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Wouldn't mind 90Mb, it's the 250-380Mb that it runs as standard when I've got the smallnumber of pages I usually have running, and the way it kills everything else. I only run 512Mb RAM, and 150Mb isn't much overhead for XP.
Opera, on the other hand, is running a slim 80MB, just that it's a bit ugly.

mine only hogs about 40mb ram with 2 or 3 tabs going.... but i only have 512mb here at work and most of that is taken up by word, outlook etc and I am running windows xp fully serviced packed.

Are we talking Mac or PC? Are we talking virtual or real memory? On the Mac here I did notice that firefow uses more memory than safari... the default browser.
As I sit here safari is using around 50mb of real memory and 270mb of virtual memory. I opened 3 tabs in firefox and it was about the same. Like I said, I have noticed firefox chewing memory before though.
Anyway... if you don't like what is happening just close the application down and all the memory will be freed up... or if you have PC re-booting will achive the same.![]()
