    It LIVES!!!

    Just when you thought it was safe and all those horrible memories of BMC/Leyland/Austin Rover Group/British Aerospace etc etc etc had been wiped.....

    Longbridge plant not dead yet

    There is still life in the old dog yet and Rover could well be producing cars this time next year, according to the Chinese firm that now owns the Longbridge plant.

    The MG TF is most likely to be the first model to roll off the production lines under Nanjing ownership.

    The company is keen to restart car production and will employ 200 workers initially.

    Nanjing has also said it intends to develop new models to be built at Longbridge and that it has a 33-year lease on the factory.

    =======================

    Great news for the 200 odd people getting some work.

    I know they invented the fire-cracker and have 2500 years of experience in building things, but I really think the Chinese could have picked a better car company than Rover to start their global automotive domination
    :wink:
