98 is $1.88
ouch!
I wonder how effective this will be ? Wasn’t there something like this promoted a few years back as well. I my opinion it would be as useful as holding your breath in an elevator after someone has farted.

Dropped to 152 here since talk of a boycott started.
Bring on electric cars!
What was once proposed was a boycott of jut one supplier like shell for a week then another one the next week and so on. Problem would be the organization of such a idea. If it did get of the ground it would hurt the petrol companies.

Geez, that old chestnut. That’s been around since petrol hit 80 cents a litre and it has never had any legs. We all need fuel, we’ve become reliant on it - they will squeeze us for every cent while they can. While I too am looking forward to mass produced cheap electric cars I can charge off my solar they’ll find a way to make money from that too.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
$1.72 for Diesel & $1.61 for Petrol yesterday here. - could be had a few cents cheaper at the indi's if you shopped around .
I know what we pay for bulk diesel after the fuel rebate and someone is putting a nice little earn in the pocket even after the rebate and GST is added on .
Its a neccisary evil and they know it . the average person will fold before the fuel companies do.
Cheers Ean
Pricing fuel is comlicated.
In Doomadgee our fuel is over $2.00 a litre which sure aint cheap.
This year every time I buy in fuel it has gone up by .05c per Lt, then you have all the costs of storing & selling it.
EG At the start of the Wet I'm holding 70,000Lt of Opal & the same in Diesel, thats a lot of money sitting in the tanks which is money I can't spend elswhere or may even have to borrow with interest.
If we have a big Wet I hardly sell it because no-one can dive anywhere but I have to have that much because the fuel suppliers won't deliver during the Wet & if we are not shut off I have to be able to supply but can't get deliveries.
Then you have the cost of Drive Off's (more regular than you would think) the cost of carrying accounts, the cost of repairs (huge out here), staffing, put some money aside for capital improvements, paying off infrastructure, Environmental costs, compliance costs & the list goes on.
So, after much mind boggling mathematics I have worked out I have to make a certain number of cents per Lt to break even & then I actually have to make some profit or what's the point?
So, I buy my fuel delivered for $Y then cover all my cost for $X then try to make some money out of the whole deal, lets say $Z. YXZ = $2.01 for Opal & $2.05 for Diesel at the moment. But 12 months ago YXZ was = $1.25 for both, I made the same number of cents per Lt (actually a couple more than I do now) but sold more fuel so I make less out of fuel now than I did 12 months ago.
I'm not saying that some places don't gouge but firstly it is very expensive to sell fuel & secondly you are far more likely to be gouge when wholesale fuel is cheap because even at a couple of cents more than what it should be you still think it's cheap.
Justification/rant over.

Fuel prices have gone up world wide the Americans don't help our problem as they put sanshins on oil production country's out dollar has dropped so oil goes up. Now what I don't understand is lpg has gone up to last week I put gas in my partners falcon at 79.9 cents per litre same place yesterday 97.9 cents per litre as I understand our gas is not opec controlled it's local.
JF,,
I don't think anyone, especially here on the forum begrudges what you guys out in the sticks charge. I think we've all seen how much it takes to get it out there etc, and we're happy to pay when we get out there. You guys out bush, do NOT need to justify anything dude. (We've seen "Sludge" on Outback Truckers too)
Our problem is the shops in and around town, and the fact they can charge what they want, and no one seems to bat an eyelid or do anything about it.
Fuel here can go up 20 cents/Lt on a Thursday arvo,, right after most of us have been paid, and before the weekend, when people need to run around seeing people or getting kids to sports etc,, then goes down again on Monday. Fuel (barrel price) go up, and thats reflected at the pump "on the day",, nothings been delivered yet to anyone, but it seems we have to pay the new upped price immediately. If it should come down,, no, you have to wait until the new fuel comes in to receive the new lower price.
It's just plain wrong, and a rip-off, and people are sick of it.
