Removing original LR stereo
It appears that there is a special tool of some sort needed to remove the unit. It looks like 2 pieces of wire shaped like a U according to RAVE. Anyone have these? or is it something you make? :?

Does yours have two or four little holes in the face?
If four, then all you need to do is poke coathanger wire down there to release the locks.

For the record some (mine included) have a vertical slot either side.
I used a reasonably stout piece of steel to depress the tabs which are located about 25mm in from the face of the radio. I was able to do one side at a time pulling out each side free of the tab and then the whole unit came out.
I did this last weekend to install a handsfree phone unit.

We use four nails of about 3 mm diameter, then use a screwdiver down the vent on the top of the dash to gently lever the radio forwards and out.

Most people just park in a parkinglot overnight and come back the next day with the new unit ready to pop into the hole wheer the old one used to be 8)
