Generally wasted, eg. on new urban trains that do not fit the existing lines/platforms/tunnels and replacing stadia that were adequate.

Buying online is easier

If you win, money is put into your online account then you just transfer it to your bank.

I've got $20-something owing to me on a lottery ticket bought in Darwin. I just hang onto it until I get back up there - also gives me a great excuse to HAVE TO go back! (You'll never, never know, if you never, never go!)
Of course, it's totally worth traveling 4000 kms for that amount [bigrolf]
